My mom is a true treasure. She is more than my best friend. We have a bond that is unlike any other. I can't even put into words everything we have been through together. Since the day I was born, she has always taken such good care of me. I am now almost 26, and she hasn't stopped yet. She had me when she was just 21 years old. I think back at what I was capable of doing when I was 21, and honey, raising a kid isn't on that list! She always dressed me up like her little doll, taught me to be mannerly, and made sure I knew just how much she loved me.
Growing up, I saw just how strong my mom is. She is resilient. My mom is a very smart woman, and she is also a hard worker. She puts 100% into everything she does whether it be being a wife, being a mom, being a teacher, or being a coach. She showed Kelly and me that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.
When I look back on my life so far, my mom has been involved in every single aspect of it - both good and bad. Can you imagine what it is like being such a vital part of someone else's life? My mom can. She is the person that gave me life. She was there when I said my first word, took my first step, for every birthday party, every barbie doll tea party, all my scraped knees and heartbreaks, every award ceremony, every prom, graduations (high school AND college), all of my sorority functions, moving (every. single. time.) ... the list goes on and on. Now, she is going on the journey with me while I create my own life. She has been there helping me through pharmacy school and now wedding planning. I say that she has been there so effortlessly but no.. y'all when I say she has been there I mean she has listened to me freak out more times than I am comfortable admitting over stress, exams, rotations, etc. She was on the other end of the phone when I freaked out (this time in a good way) after Tyler proposed even though she totally knew about every little detail of the proposal beforehand because that's what moms do. She has helped me in choosing the perfect wedding dinner menu, cocktail napkin color (because it DOES matter if you choose fuchsia or blush pink), selecting THE dress, and picking out flowers that say "Southern Summer Country Club Wedding") all while making sure I stay sane during this whole wedding planning process. I sometimes wonder how she does it all.
When I say she is my life, I mean it (obviously.. did you read the paragraph above this?!) Since I was born, my mom has been involved in every aspect of my life in some way, shape, or form.
Do I need to keep going? It is obvious that I love my mom. She knows this. I want her to know that through the years, she transitioned from a parent to a friend - my BEST friend. I love you more than anything mom! I am so fortunate to have such a beautiful woman (inside and out) as "my person."
I am surrounded by caring, talented, intelligent, beautiful women. I love and admire every woman in my family, and today, I want to say Happy Mother's Day to you all as well!
To my sweet mawmaw Ellen Jean, I love you so much! Sometimes Tyler calls me Ellen because I take after her so much. Peach sweet tea? We both love it. Naps? We both love them. Housecoats? You guessed it. Probably the best thing I learned from my maw maw is the importance of being a God fearing woman. She was my Sunday School teacher for years, and she always took me to church with her. Some of my best childhood memories are at church with her and my cousin, Taylor, snacking on hug juices and duplex cookies while learning the Old Testament Bible stories. I am thankful she was always such a positive influence in my life, and I believe my strong love for Jesus is partly due to my upbringing in church and the solid foundation that gave me growing up.
This is my sweet Aunt Michelle. She is a truly amazing person. I love you Aunt Chelle!
To my JuJu, I love you! Y'all, when I tell you that this woman gave me a dream childhood, I am not kidding. She made EVERYTHING fun! She would play "school" with us by teaching us how to read and write at her house. The kicker here is she had bought an old desk from a school that we got to sit in while we learned. When you are a kid that has never been to school to sit in a real desk before, that is an awesome thing LOL (I blame her for my obsession with school supplies). She always did fun things for us like "Granddaughter Day" aka the grandkids get to open presents and eat cake. She also always went all out on Valentine's Day and Easter. I say went like it is past tense. No. I definitely got Valentine and Easter gifts this year LOL My grandmother is so giving and thoughtful. She will do anything she can to make her family happy. I am so lucky to have you in my life! I hope one day I can make life fun for my kids and grandkids like you do for us!
I am a very lucky little lady to have my mom, maw maw, grandmother, and two awesome aunts, Michelle and Becky. My circle of loving, admirable women expanded when I met Tyler.
Rhonda, Tyler's mom, is the best. She is so sweet and caring. Rhonda has always made me feel so welcome and like one of her own. She is a very intelligent and hard working woman. Even after retiring, she continued going to school to further her education. I admire her dedication and work ethic! She does so much for Tyler and me and has also been helping me along the way with all the wedding planning. When I say she makes me feel like one of her own, I am not kidding. She spoils me rotten! Rhonda and my mom are both the epitome of a perfect southern woman. In my world, this is what a gal strives to be. They have beautiful, inviting homes. They are phenomenal hostesses. They have class and impeccable style. I hope I can just come close to how amazing they are!
When I re-dedicated my life to The Lord, I was with Rhonda. We will always share that special bond, and I can't thank her enough for talking with me that day. Now, I can't forget to give props to Rhonda on her parenting skills as well. I may be biased but I think she did a WONDERFUL job! Tyler is the best. He is gentlemanly, kind, hard-working, selfless, compassionate, and driven. He is everything a girl could dream of. I cherish my relationship with Rhonda, and I hope we continue to grow even closer! Happy Mother's Day, and I love you!
This is Mo and Michelle, Rhonda's mother and sister. Again, two wonderful women that are so sweet and that I love very much! Michelle and Mo just recently became grandma and great-grandma, so this Mother's Day will be extra special for them!
I couldn't celebrate Mother's Day without wishing my "second mom" Nancy a Happy Mother's Day. Ashton is my little sis in sorority thus making Nancy my "other mother". Nancy is such a good-hearted person. She is incredibly talented and can make any occasion feel special. She is also a wonderful hostess, and I have had many fun sleepovers at the Bias household (maybe, at times, too much fun!) Happy Mother's Day Nancy! I love you!

Saturday, we had several kids from the high school at our house to take pictures before prom. It was so much fun! All the kids looked awesome!! We all hung out here for awhile and then headed to the high school to watch prom walk. Y'all, in Man, WV, prom walk is a grand affair. The entire town gathers at the high school to see all the kids before their dance. I made sure Tyler got to experience this occasion at least once in his lifetime! After prom walk, we came back home and grilled out. It was a great way to celebrate Mother's Day. Mom was surrounded by her family and friends. Today, we are just going to hang out around the house and spend some much needed quality time together! I hope all you mother's out there have a wonderful day today!
How cute is this little set up mom and I put together? The drink server belongs to my mother-in-love, Rhonda. She is letting us use it for my wedding shower, which is coming up soon! It is so pretty!
This is our sweet friend Tamus. She is such a kind-hearted person and cute as a button! I always love talking to her because she is always so positive and sweet. Not to mention, her style is impeccable! I'm so glad we got to spend some time with her yesterday!
Nothing like some good sweet tea on a hot, sunny day!
My JuJu and all of the kids. We love her!
Mommy opening her gifts from Tyler and me. We got her an Alex and Ani bracelet - the Queen's Crown. It's "energy" is divine right, queenship, and power. The card that came with the bracelet said, "Known also as Great Mother, the queen represents feminine power and authority. She rules with values that inspire a kingdom or an individual to greatness. Wear this charm to help you assert your power, take charge of situations, and act with benevolence." Mom said she can do that! LOL
We finished the evening off by sitting around the fire in our backyard. I absolutely love being home, but what I love even more is being surrounded by family and friends. I am so glad I got to have Tyler and my sister with me this weekend. The three of us are rarely at the same place at the same time!
