Faith

I wanted to include a faith section on my blog because being a Christian is a huge part of my life. I try my hardest to be a good, faithful Christian and keep God as the center of my marriage. In today's society, sometimes it is difficult sticking to what you know is right. Many people, especially people my age, think that being a Christian and believing what the Bible says is right means that you are a close-minded, judgmental, hypocritical person, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I can believe in what I believe and still love my friends and family that may not see things exactly how I do. Being a Christian doesn't mean I do not sin. It means I live my life in a way that I purposely try NOT to sin, but when I do, I am able to repent and receive God's forgiveness. I try my hardest to love others no matter how different their lifestyles may be than mine. I try to forgive others when I feel hurt or mad by something they've done, even when they didn't ask for forgiveness. I try to give to others in need. I try to be a light for those seeking Jesus. I put God at the center of my marriage and try to live like a Proverbs 31 wife. The reason I believe in God and what the Bible says is because I have seen him work directly in my life. I have been comforted by prayer. I have been protected by Him. To believe so firmly in something you can't directly see, hear, or feel isn't closed minded at all. To me, you have to be very open-minded to believe. It is much easier to say it isn't true, but having faith means you believe despite the fact that God isn't tangible. If you are visiting this section of my blog, I want you to know God loves you. If you are ever in need, you can turn to Him for comfort and peace. I have found that He has been there for me even when I least deserve it. What a friend we have in Jesus!

I am going to use this section to keep you updated on what I am using for Bible Study. I also read some Christian lifestyle books as well. I will post a list here on what I am currently using to study the Bible and any books I am currently reading or have read, so you can purchase these Bibles and books as well if you are interested!

For Bible Study:

For Recreational Reading:

I read this book leisurely while I was engaged. I would read it off and on because I couldn't really get into it. I think with school and wedding planning, reading for fun wasn't very high on my priority list. After I was able to actually sit down and get through it, it actually did have valuable information for someone that is about to get married. What I liked about this book was that it was upfront about problems that can arise in marriage. It would give examples of common issues people argue about and present varying "sides" to the situation. The best part of this book was that it also provided simple solutions or coping techniques to help diffuse an intense situation. This book wasn't super interesting, but it was definitely enlightening and provided me with some "good to know" information.

I loved this book! Being a pharmacy student means I have sat through MANY undergraduate lectures on evolution. Professors in the College of Science do not teach you that God created the world and all of its contents. Science teaches you that only things that can be proven are real. I grew up going to church with my grandparents, so when I went away to school, I kept my education and my religious beliefs separate. It was the only way I could "deal" with everything a science degree teaches. This book forced me to see my education/knowledge and religion as one cohesive being. After a near death experience, a neurosurgeon with no prior claimed religion or beliefs had his life changed forever. He is now a firmly believing Christian that spreads what he says is God's greatest message to us all: love. It was a wonderful book, and I was able to read it in just a few days because I couldn't put it down!
