Bachelorette Weekend at Glade Springs Resort

June 23, 2015

Hey y'all! It has been awhile since I blogged last. To say I've been busy lately would be a huge understatement. For the last five weeks, I have been on my first APPE rotation, and I absolutely loved it! My preceptor was also one of my teachers during pharmacy school, and she was nothing short of amazing. She taught me so many things during my short time with her - both pharmacy related and just about life in general. She is a wonderful pharmacist that cares about her patients. She is able to balance her family and work which is very admirable. She is definitely someone I look up to! I am going to miss seeing her everyday!

This past weekend was my bachelorette weekend at Glade Springs Resort. Some of my closest gals got together to celebrate with me. It is hard to believe I will be getting married in just a few short days! I had an absolute blast last weekend. When we first arrived, my sister handed me a Bride to Be sash to wear. It matched my dress perfectly!

We headed to Daniels Vineyard to do a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting (so we thought). We ended up getting way more than we bargained for LOL When we pulled up to the vineyard, a gentleman greeted us with a wine glass and a smile. He welcomed us to the Wine Festival. Y'all, this was not planned. We just lucked out! There were several vendors, different foods, and wine from several local vineyards. We tried out some flavored wines. The raspberry was my favorite! I also bought some different premixed spices to make dips with. I purchased a bacon/onion dip that was delicious with pretzels. I also bought pumpkin pie mix for this fall. The couple that was selling the dip mixes gave me a free mix that tasted like orange dreamcicle once they saw my sash that said Bride to Be. They congratulated me and wished me luck. They were so sweet!

Now, I thought the dip mixes would be the highlight of the Wine Festival, but I was wrong. We made our way over to a shed to grab a quick lunch. They had a live band playing good oldies music, so it was a fun atmosphere. Everyone was just sitting around, eating, and enjoying the music. Then, all of a sudden, two ladies decided to get up and start dancing. That was entertaining enough, but just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did. Three more ladies made their way up to the dance floor WITH HULA HOOPS. They were moving all over the place with those things. I had never seen anything like it before in all my life! My bachelorette party was suddenly wilder than I had anticipated LOL

After our adventurous trip to the vineyard, we went back to our rooms to get ready for the evening. We had a lovely dinner at Bunkers. We laughed and told stories all evening. During dinner, one of my best friends, Jill, turned to me and told me it was my last single girl Saturday. That really hit me. I am about to be a married woman. It is just crazy to think! After dinner, we went back to the room. Kelly came up with a couple of cute games for all of us to play. Apparently, I am REALLY good at bachelorette party games LOL All the girls bought me such cute things. I had such a great time!

Our rooms were so cute!

We never dreamed we would be on another shuttle together LOL We had to take one every single day to get to the pharmacy school, and now we are on another heading to Bunkers for dinner!

Elevator Selfie!

I can't thank everyone enough that traveled to Glade with me to celebrate. I had a wonderful trip spending quality time with some of my favorite girls. Next stop... marriage!

Lauren's Bridal Shower

June 7, 2015

This weekend was filled with family and friends, which is my favorite kind of weekend. Friday evening was spent in Charleston with my family. We watched our high school baseball team during the first round of the tournament. They won!! It was so fun to unwind and spend time with my family. I also got to see so many people from my hometown. I believe someone posted online for the last person that leaves Man to head to the game to "turn the lights off." LOL Practically the whole town migrated up 119 to Charleston for the game! I just love small towns. The next day the boys played the final round of the state tournament. I didn't go to that game because I attended my best friend's bridal shower. Unfortunately, they did not win the state champion title, but we are all very proud of The Man Hillbillies!

Saturday, I spent the day with some of my favorite gals at my friend Lauren's bridal shower. I got to see so many familiar faces that I haven't seen in years. It was awesome catching up with everyone! Lauren's shower was so pretty. The decorations created a vintage feel with shades of pink, gold, and cream. I loved it! She got a ton of awesome gifts! I recently had my bridal shower, and I know how much fun I had opening all the gifts and visiting with everyone. It made me so happy to know that Lauren was getting to have that same amazing experience! I love that our weddings are so close because we get to go through this journey together. It really is special!

All of the treats were so pretty and very tasty!

The beautiful bride to be! She kept us laughing while she opened up her gifts. She kept saying she hopes she will be able to learn to cook and become more domestic. I assured her she will be fine. The weekend after my bridal shower I was frying chicken like I had been doing it all my life LOL Miracles happen! It was like a switch flipped, and I suddenly had an interest in doing things like cooking (or more like learning to cook), cleaning, decorating, etc. In all seriousness, she will make a great wife. I just know it!

We have been through everything together. I know that I can always turn to her for anything, and she knows she can do the same with me. This friendship has no judgement - only love and support. We have made amazing memories together since becoming friends in junior high. We have had ups and downs like any friendship, but we have remained close throughout it all. I am so thankful to be able to call such a wonderful, funny, selfless, and sassy person my best friend!

I am also very fortunate for Lauren's fiancé Josh. All a girl wants for all of her friends is to see them truly happy, and Josh makes Lauren VERY happy! He is a wonderful person, and he treats her like the princess she is. I know that they will have a happy, fun life together, and I couldn't be happier for the two of them!

Just a few of the girls. I've known these ladies for as long as I can remember. We are so excited for Lauren's special day!
